Stanley Tucci to Star in Russo Brothers’ Upcoming TV & Film Projects

Italian American brothers Joe and Anthony Russo are developing the conceptual spy thriller, "Citadel," and the new film "The Electric State" — both of which will include Tucci.

Stanley Tucci, the A-list actor and host of the hit TV show Searching for Italy, is set to star in a new TV spy thriller, Citadel, which is being developed and produced by Joe and Anthony Russo (the directors behind Avengers: Endgame).

The ambitious project, bankrolled by Amazon Studios, will follow an unprecedented production concept, where multiple Citadel shows will be crafted around the world and concurrently aired alongside the U.S. version.

For instance, there will be Citadel: Italy and Citadel: India, among others, that will feature locales, languages and actors from those respective countries.

The details of the show are still under wraps, but Tucci will star in all seven episodes of season 1.

Filming on the U.S. version wrapped in June, and Citadel will air on Amazon Prime Video. The series will be released next year.

Amazon has committed more than $200 million into the series that will feature science fiction elements.

Production Underway on The Electric State

Tucci will also star in the Russo Brothers next movie, The Electric State, which is currently being filmed in Atlanta, Ga.

The new film follows “an orphaned teen who traverses the American West with a mysterious robot and an eccentric drifter in search of her younger brother,” according to IMDb.

Joe and Anthony Russo are lifelong members of Italian Sons and Daughters of America, and each year, they award grants to aspiring filmmakers who depict and explore the Italian American experience (click here to learn more about The Russo Brothers Italian American Film Forum).
