‘A Nite at the Races’ Pays It Forward

Support ISDA's Western PA philanthropy and fraternity, but hurry — tickets will go fast!

ISDA’s Western PA District will host a Nite at the Races as its major fundraiser on May 17, 2025. Money raised will be used to support philanthropic projects such as the “ISDA Day for Exceptional Friends,” the Debutante Ball, the Triad Mass, the Community Day of Service and the La Befana Coloring Contest.

The Big Nite will be held at the Lourdes Center of St. Bernadette Church at 245 Azalea Drive in Monroeville, PA 15146. Doors will open at 5:30 P.M. This is an adult (ages 21 and over) event and your $25 registration includes a hot buffet dinner, beer, soft drinks, mixers, and coffee. Feel free to bring your own wine and favorite spirits. You can also bring snacks to share at your table. We are sure there will be some impressive antipasti trays! But remember to save room for dessert because there will be a Bake Sale, too. You are encouraged to share your baking skills by contributing to the table. Contact Madeline Orfitelli at 412-272-8866 or pricessorf4@yahoo.com to make arrangements.

The evening’s main event will consist of 10 horse races with 10 horses in each race. You can purchase and name a horse for $10. If your horse wins its race, you win $20.

We hope to see some very creative names and some friendly competition between members and lodges. You can also sponsor a race for $50 and your name will be listed on the race in the Program Booklet. There will be an 11th race, which is an Auction Race. Join with your friends to be the highest bidders to purchase one of the 10 horses in this race. The payout can be high for this one.

If you are not lucky with the horses, there will be other opportunities to win! There will be a traditional ISDA “Share the Wealth” raffle. And what would an ISDA Western PA District fundraiser be without a basket auction? Do not worry! Lodges are asked to contribute baskets valued at around $100 or to contribute money or gift cards that our committee will use to assemble baskets for the auction. This is also a good way to promote a business.

Contact Kimberly Fannell at 412-607-0945 or kimsue1209@gmail.com to contribute. Lodges and members are also encouraged to contribute to the Program Booklet. This is a wonderful way to promote your Lodge or business or to remember a loved one. Lodge Presidents and National Councilors will have all the information you need.

Or feel free to contact one of the Chairs for this event —
