Ray Liotta Passes Away at Age 67, Lorraine Bracco Says Goodbye

The actor died in his sleep during shooting of a new film.

Ray Liotta, who became a household name in Hollywood with the premiere of Goodfellas in 1990, died early Thursday at the age of 67.

The star passed away in his sleep in the Dominican Republic, according to PEOPLE Magazine. He was engaged to fiancée Jacy Nittolo.

No foul play is suspected, and Nittolo was beside him when he died.

Lorraine Bracco, who played opposite Liotta in Martin Scorsese’s gangster drama, voiced her disbelief on Instagram:

The actor had recently appeared in the Sopranos prequel movie The Many Saints of Newark and the Amazon Prime series Hanna; he was currently filming the movie Dangerous Waters.

Born in Newark, N.J. on December 18, 1954, he was abandoned at an orphanage and adopted at just six-months-old by Mary and Alfred Liotta.

In a moving tribute, actor Kevin Costner — his costar in 1989’s Field of Dreams — had this to say:

“Hey, is this heaven?” asked Shoeless Joe as he approached the endless field of Iowa corn.

Yes it is, Ray; God bless.

Liotta is survived by his daughter Karsen, age 23.
