BASIL’S MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR THE ORDER:
- Created La Nostra Voce, the best Italian American newspaper in the country. Basil’s wife, Patricia, served as editor for 5 years.
- Basil and his daughter Angela created the ISDA website, the most extensive Italian American website in the country.
- Created a social media following of 725,000 Italian Americans — by far, the largest social media following of any Italian American fraternal organization in the country.
- Founded new ISDA lodges in New York City, New Jersey, Louisiana and Florida — the first new lodges in the ISDA in more than 40 years.
- Worked to develop 3 new lodges in Charlotte, Pensacola and Toronto, which will be joining the ISDA at the convention.
- Increased ISDA membership each year for the past 6 years after decades of declining membership.
- Filed a lawsuit in Pittsburgh to protect the Columbus statue in Schenley Park.
- Established the Italian American Future Leaders Conference that encourages young ISDA members to become involved in leadership positions within the ISDA.
- Elected by the presidents of 60 other Italian American organizations to be the national spokesman for the Italian American community.
BASIL’S MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR THE FRATERNAL:
- Increased the ISDA’s assets from $60 million to over $340 million in just 8 years, making ISDA Financial Life the largest Italian American insurance/annuity company in America.
- Hired ISDA’s first sales & marketing manager to assist in professionally managing the dramatic growth of the fraternal association.
- Developed the marketing strategy of “Rapid But Responsible Growth,” which resulted in a 460% increase in assets and 300 sales agents marketing ISDA financial products around the country.
- Built ISDA into the most financially sound Italian American fraternal association in America.
When asked about the dramatic asset and membership growth the ISDA has experienced, Basil stated:
“None of this could have been accomplished without the support of an exceptional Fraternal Board of Directors, as well as our outstanding District Vice Presidents, our National Controller Joann Blackwell and Sales Manager Jim Laick — all of whom contributed to our organization’s great success.”
