Born on Dec. 12, 1915, Frank Sinatra would have turned 106 this past Sunday, so to honor the memory of the legendary singer, a life-size bronze statue was unveiled over the weekend at the Sinatra Park Amphitheater.
“It is truly a great honor to unveil this ode to Hoboken’s own Frank Sinatra,” Mayor Ravi Bhalla said. “This will not only memorialize him, but also the impact he has had on the city of Hoboken, it’s residents, and American society.”
Designed by sculptor Carolyn Palmer, the statue depicts the iconic crooner leaning against a flickering lamp post, wearing a three-piece suit with his signature pinky ring.
The unveiling was emceed by commentator and SNL alum Joe Piscopo.
“It’s international…Visually it’s great and, again, it’s for the Italians. Mr. Sinatra would appreciate that,” Piscopo told Fox News.
Sinatra passed away on May 14, 1998 in LA; he was 82.
