Get your seat at the digital dinner table, because the Russo Brothers are serving up a slice of Hollywood. The iconic duo — known for their Marvel blockbusters and comedy work, like Arrested Development and Community — are opening up the #RussoBrosPizzaFilmSchool.
“Like a lot of you, our families have been watching movies together during quarantine,” their Instagram post read, which announced the initiative. “And these family movie nights have inspired us to start sharing some of our favorite classics with all of you. For the next few weeks we’re going to post a #MovieoftheWeek, the movies that had the greatest influence on us growing up.”
The movies they choose will be the ones that have had the greatest impact on them throughout their years, the ones that made them want to become directors. Basically, each week, Joe and Anthony Russo will announce a movie via Instagram and go live the following week to chat about it.
The brothers from Cleveland will take questions from followers, bring on special guests and discuss their favorite pizza pies.
“We love movies and we love pizza, so let’s just call it #RussoBrosPizzaFilmSchool,” the post continued. The first movie the Russo Brothers chose is La Haine, a French black and white drama from 1995.
They will go live to talk about the movie this Friday, May 15, and are bringing on special guest Pete Hammond, a renowned, award-winning film critic and commentator. Be sure to be there by 5 p.m. PST, 8 p.m. EST.
On top of running this social media-driven film school, Joe and Anthony Russo have also been working on some upcoming projects, like their next real-life heist flick, Cherry.
So, write down your homework for the week, get watching and tune into the Russo Brothers Instagram at 5 p.m. PST, 8 p.m. EST. every Friday.
See you there!
