“Jeopardy!” has found yet another seemingly unstoppable champion, Italian American doctoral student and Ohio native Matt Amodio.
On Friday, Amodio, a Ph.D. student in computer science at Yale, won his 28th consecutive game, pushing his winnings past the $1 million mark.
He is only the third contestant to reach the seven-figure milestone, after Ken Jennings and James Holzhauer, the ace contestant who captured the nation with his winning streak in 2019.
Amodio, at Yale, researches artificial intelligence and said he’s been watching the gameshow since he was a toddler, The New York Times reports.
According to the website The Jeopardy! Fan, Amodio has the right answer more than 90 percent of the time and he’s first to the buzzer more than half the time.
In betting, he tends not to take as many risks as Holzhauer, who surpassed $1 million in half the time.
The young phenom could win his 33rd consecutive show by next Friday to surpass Holzhauer’s 32-game streak.
Jennings holds the record at 74 consecutive games won.
Best of luck, Matt!
