Jeopardy’s Matt Amodio Racks Up 23 Wins, $800k as Streak Continues

Could an Italian American one day become the winningest contestant on Jeopardy? Our wager: absolutely.

Ohio native and OSU grad Matt Amodio breezed through the first week of the 38th season of “Jeopardy!”

Amodio won $50,400 on Friday night, notching his 23rd straight win for a total of $825,801.

Amodio will be back on the show Monday night to try for his 24th victory.

He’ll be joined by guest host Mayim Bialik, who will host episodes airing through Nov. 5, after which she and all-time “Jeopardy!” champ Ken Jennings will “split hosting duties as their schedules allow,” according to an announcement earlier in the week by Sony Pictures Television.

The Ph.D. student from Yale, known for his aggressive wagers and seemingly endless knowledge, ranks third when it comes to total consecutive wins. Jennings (74) and James Holzhauer (32) remain the top record holders, but that could all change in the coming weeks and months.

Stay tuned!
