Ingredients
- butter (or shortening) & flour for pans
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 8 large eggs
- 2 cups vegetable oil (or canola oil)
- 2 cups milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 Tablespoons instant chocolate pudding mix (dry mix, not prepared)
- 2 Tablespoons instant pistachio pudding mix (dry mix, not prepared)
- 2 Tablespoons cherry gelatin mix (dry mix, not prepared)
Italian Meringue Buttercream Frosting
- 8 large egg whites
- 2 1/4 cups granulated sugar divided
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 24 ounces unsalted butter (3 cups/6 sticks)
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Garnish (optional)
- mini chocolate chips (or chopped chocolate)
- pistachios chopped
- maraschino cherries
