Pope Francis has attributed a second miracle to an Italian teenager who in his short life used his computer skills to spread the Catholic faith, clearing the way for him to become the first saint of the millennial generation.
Carlo Acutis, who died of Leukemia in 2006 at age 15, has been dubbed “God’s influencer.”
Acutis, a technology whiz kid, taught himself computer science and web design at age 9; he then built.a site that cataloged miracles around the globe, and ran websites for Catholic organizations.
“Carlo was the light answer to the dark side of the web,” his mother told The New York Times.
In 2020, he was beatified at a ceremony in the town of Assisi.
In a letter, Pope Francis called him “blessed.”
Five years ago, the Pontiff attributed the first miracle to Acutis after a boy with a malformed pancreas came in contact with one of his shirts and was inexplicably healed.
Roughly 10,000 saints have been recognized by the Roman Catholic Church, but just 120 died as children or teenagers, the National Catholic Register reported.
