Few words can describe the sight: 20,000 people dressed in Santa costumes flood Turin in the name of good will and charity.

Skipping the usual mode of transportation — flying reindeer — the Santas, rather, arrived by scooter and bicycle to spread cheer and raise money for a local children’s hospital.

The ninth annual event drew record numbers, as a sea of fluffy red coats and white beards surrounded Regina Margherita hospital, RTE reports.

“It’s an extraordinary sight,” Turin Mayor Chiara Appendino told Italian media. “Christmas is a magical time and a celebration, but it’s also a time to be close to those in difficulty.”
